Woman Says Liked Tweet About ‘Being a Whore for Seafood’ Came Up on Job Background Check

We’ve really let employers get away with a lot.

Before the internet, you could pretty easily get away with lying about your entire work history and jotting down a few friends as references, eventually securing the job with nothing more than a handshake. Now, however, employers have trained A.I. to comb through your resume and reject you mere seconds after you’ve applied. The future is great!

One thing that some employers also do is a social media background check. This involves combing through all of your posts (and apparently your likes) to determine if you’ve said or done anything problematic, at least, publicly. This woman was subject to one of those searches, and it pulled up something absolutely ridiculous.
