Williams-Sonoma Follows Suit And Holds a Mass-Firings Via Conference Calls

In a major 'oof' moment, home goods and furnishings store Williams-Sonoma took a page from the Better.com and Sears book as they have fired a few dozen remote workers via the ole fashioned and very impersonal conference call. With Christmas right around the corner from the day they terminated the employees, many were left scrambling to make ends meet and try and provide for their families.

With a little more than a month remaining before they expected their seasonal jobs to end, the high-end company fired remote employees working for the retailer and its subsidiary brands Pottery Barn and West Elm. This is a particularly tone-deaf move both because they did it right before Christmas, with no warning, and in the least professional way possible. I'm not sure if they've had their heads in the sand and missed the events that unfolded when Better.com and Sears pulled this stunt, or if management thought this was the right way to handle things.
