Watch This Walrus Slurp Down Fish
Braden Bjella Published 08/12/2024
He doesn’t even chew! I was unaware of this, but apparently, walruses eat fish by just shooting them down their gullet — no chewing, no tasting, just straight fish-to-stomach. In order to do this, they’ve developed some pretty intense sucking muscles, allowing them to guzzle down herring without blinking an eye.
These zoologists have decided to demonstrate this by hooking up a tube to a walrus’ mouth, then feeding him fish through a sort of makeshift bendy straw.
Hey, if he gets free fish from it, I’m sure he doesn’t mind.
