'The Simpson' Predicted the Higgs Boson Equation 14 Years Before CERN
In a 1998 episode of The Simpsons titled "The Wizard of Evergreen Terrace" Homer Simpson becomes an inventor. In the episode Homer invents an electric hammer and a make-up gun, while also successfully predicting the equation for the Higgs Boson 14 years before CERN.
The Simpsons is known for its clairvoyant capabilities, predicting Trump's presidential run, among other things, but this couldn't be true, could it?
Well, yes actually, it could, and it is. The equation that Homer writes on the board was found years later and matches up nearly exactly with the real formula CERN scientists would later create to help them explain the 'God particle.'
The catch, however, is that even in 1998, physicists had a general knowledge of what the formula would look like in theory, and though the writers of The Simpsons came incredibly close in their prediction, it only shows how diligent the writers were in their research.
