These Dudes Are Hiking a Fake Mount Doom While Dressed as Frodo and Sam

What a commitment to being nerds!

These guys attempted something both stupid and impressive: climbing a mountain armed with nothing more than what Sam and Frodo had as they approached Mount Doom to throw in the Ring.

Why did they do this? Their answer appears to be a resounding “why not?” They performed the whole thing without any sleeping bags or other effective camping gear, and even added rocks to themselves as they approached the top to simulate the struggle undertaken by Frodo and Sam. However, they did wear shoes (probably smart).
