The ‘World’s Most Crowded Train’ Is Hell on Earth

The U.S. is sorely lacking when it comes to trains. In some cases, that might be for the best.


The way we do trains is pretty simple. Before the train takes off, you buy a ticket for a seat. If all the seats are taken, tough — you’re just going to have to wait until the next one comes around. Makes sense, right?


In other countries, however, this isn’t always the case. For example, over in Germany, a ticket for a train and a ticket for a seat are two separate things, meaning you can buy a ticket for a nine-hour trip across the country only to discover that you’ve got no place to put your bottom. And in Bangladesh, they’ll just keep loading the train until the cars are filled — at which point people will start riding on top of it.
