The Tonga Eruption is the Biggest Ever Eruption Captured From Space
Peter Rapine Published 01/17/2022
Over the weekend a volcanic eruption took place on the Tongan island of Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai - the blast was so enormous that it could be seen from space - and might be the largest ever eruption recorded using satellites.
The blast not only split the island in half, leaving a massive crater where Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai used to be, but it also sent a tsunami that reached the shore of Santa Cruz, California.
This footage while incredibly stunning and dare we say mind-blowing, is also a humbling reminder that at any moment, the world could erupt in a ball of fire and ash.
Do with that as you will.
