The Hurricane Destroyed “Smart” Locks and Now Homeowners are Stuck Outside
Thought it was bad enough that the hurricane made your car kill itself? Now, there’s another problem that can be traced back to the storm: people with smart locks getting stuck out of their homes.
To briefly explain, a “smart lock” is a lock that allows one to open their door with a passkey or, in some cases, an app.
Usually, these doors have a physical key as a backup. However, this isn’t always the case, and as the storm winds and saltwater have corroded the connections on these locks, some residents are returning to their homes to find that their smart door handles are refusing to let them in.
Yet another reason we should have never gotten rid of keys.
