State Patrol Officer Narrowly Avoids Being Hit During Traffic Stop
Chet Donnelly Published 03/14/2022
Getting pulled over is something almost every driver goes through at least once in their life. There may be a few exceptions to the rule but I don't think I have ever met anyone who has never, ever been pulled over. If you do find yourself getting lit up from behind by a police officer, one of the main things to keep in mind is to pull over safely, in a well-lit (if at night) area that is a safe distance off the road or highway. Pulling over in the far left lane or medium / center lane is never a good idea and can put everyone involved in the stop at risk.
The Colorado State Patrol released this crash footage to emphasize the importance of moving over when emergency vehicles are on the shoulder of the roadway. NEVER use the center median to stop. Pull off the freeway to a safe location, if you can.
