Scientists Taught Rats to Drive, and Now They Can’t Stop Doing It
Pretty soon, we’ll have them committing tiny, adorable road rage.
Whenever a bizarre study shows up in the news, you can’t help but get hit with a sense of “why are we doing this, exactly?”
While I know in my brain that these seemingly-bizarre studies often have a deeper purpose with real-world applications, I can’t help but look at headlines like “Study Finds That Pigs Can Get Drunk” without thinking that you could probably knock that out in a weekend without spending a bunch of grant money. Hell, film it and throw it on YouTube, and you could even *earn* money from it!
This study is one of those instances. For it, scientists taught rats to drive tiny little cars in order to learn about the animal’s ability to learn complex tasks.
How did they do? Well, not only did they get pretty sick at driving, but they apparently loved doing it.
Hey, us too!
