Mob Boss Gives Detailed Insight on Mafia Life

Mob Boss Michael Franzese, once a capo in New York's Colombo crime family, sat down with Mark Laita -- photographer and man behind the captivating Soft White Underbelly -- to talk about what it was like working as one of the most financially successful mob bosses ever, what drove him away from the mafia and how he ended up as a Minister of all things. Fascinating insight into a fascinating life.

Franzese, born May 27th, 1951, was the man behind one of the most lucrative schemes ever, defrauding the government on gasoline taxes to the tune of $56 million dollars a month at the height of his career. Eventually caught and incarcerated, Franzese spent nearly a decade behind bars before renouncing his life as a criminal and moving to California.

Since then, Franzese has had multiple contracts on his life, with one even approved by his own father, Sonny Franzese, who was sentenced to 50 years in prison for bank robbery when Michael was a child.
