Millennial Pressures Builders to Come Fix His Shoddy House Using TikTok
Lonestar Hawaiian is a YouTuber and TikToker who normally produces content "building the dream garage," and operates as a "YouTube Self-Certified Automotive Technician." However, after noticing some serious issues with his D.R. Horton-built home, he decided to make a new kind of video and put them on blast.
Across two TikTok videos, Lonestar exposed loose brick and limestone, as well as shoddy craftsmanship in his attic. With those videos garnering 1.9 and 11 million views respectively, he knew he had the support to challenge D. R. Horton. Inspired by his videos, builders eventually came and re-did the front of his home, which he documented on YouTube.
Comments on Lonestar's TikTok videos and YouTube channel are littered with people ripping D.R. Horton and their homes. "I’ve been a framer for 20 plus years and we use to build DR Hortons homes," one man commented. "Take it from me, don’t ever buy a DR Horton house!" Following the recent collapse of two new houses in Utah, it's about time modern home builders were held accountable for cutting corners.
This is why when I was searching for a house to buy I was looking for places built from 1980 to 2010 because those weren’t built on thoughts and prayers. pic.twitter.com/3Q4DPrjei0
