Mayoral Candidate Makes It Rain Cash, Gets Arrested
People don’t really get too excited about mayoral races. Living in a city means dealing with a lot of shit, and while the mayor has some control over what happens, they mainly just serve as a punching bag for everyone to get mad at when something doesn’t work.
So, if you want people to care, or just to add a little excitement to the mayoral competition, you’ve gotta do it yourself. This mayor tried that and, well, he was arrested for it.
Brazilian mayoral candidate Raione Cabral spent a campaign event throwing cash into a crowd of onlookers, effectively “making it rain” on his supporters. While it grabbed headlines, it also caught the attention of the police, who arrested him for trying to unfairly influence a campaign.
That said, people got to keep the money, so it wasn’t a total loss.
