Leslie Stahl Has No Idea How Many Missiles She's Just Launched On Assignment at a Nuclear Launch Control Center

Leslie Stahl has no clue how many missiles she's just launched in this clip from a 2014 '60 Minutes' segment exploring a nuclear launch control center and missile silo. After pressing a button and hearing a quick beeping sound, she asks the question. "How many missiles did I actually launch, 1 or 10?" The military member smiles at the question. "You launched 50."
The article of the segment describes Stahl's experience, saying that it was "peculiar." "These things were built in the 1960s," she says. "Kennedy was president; Nixon was president... You feel like you're going back in time." She also commends the people working there and is surprised at their young age. "They're young, some of them are right out of college... They all said that the idea of maintaining a deterrent force was important." While it might be important, it's clear Stahl doesn't quite understand the scale of the term "deterrent." It's not one nuke, or ten. It's destroying the world as we know it.
