Cliff Collapse in Brazilian Lake Turns Deadly For Tourists

A towering rock face broke off from a cliff and collapsed on top of tourists taking a boat tour in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. The tragic accident has left at least six people dead and some 30+ people injured. Additionally, authorities are reporting that as many as 20 more people are currently presumed missing.
The incident occurred at Furnas Lake, a manmade lake created in 1958 for the placement of a hydroelectric plant that attracts thousands of tourists to the surrounding town of Capitolia every year. Officials theorize that the rock may have gotten loosened by heavy rains and flooding in the region.
