Guy Who Faked His Own Death Was (Allegedly) Interviewed About His Plan on TikTok

Note: If a woman invites you to Uzbekistan, don’t go.

That’s not a mark against Uzbekistan; I’m sure it’s lovely. I’m just saying that, if a woman online tells you to abandon your family and venture off into Central Asia, there might be more to the story than some random woman on Facebook wanting to bone you.

Nonetheless, this Wisconsin man seems to have fallen victim to one of these schemes — and allegedly talked about it on TikTok before pulling the trigger.

According to the New York Times, 45-year-old Ryan Borgwardt went missing while kayaking. After investigating the case as a death, authorities grew suspicious and went through his personal life and internet history — only to find that he had been communicating with a “woman from Uzbekistan,” had recently purchased a life insurance policy and gotten a new passport, and more than likely just said “see ya” to his family before splitting for the ‘Stans.

Unbelievably, there might be more evidence for this than even the police thought. That’s because someone appearing to be Borgwardt discussed this whole plan with a random advice TikToker, the video of which is available here:
