German Football Fans Sing 'Country Roads' Better than Most Americans
Featured 15 hours ago
Munich made history this weekend hosting the first ever regular-season NFL game in Germany, and the atmosphere was absolutely electric.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Seattle Seahawks 21-16 at Allianz Stadium on Sunday. But the highlight of the game was arguably the German crowd of 69,000 on hand.
With 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter, John Denver's hit 'Country Roads' played over the PA system. It was as if everyone was transported to West Virginia University where the ballad has become a school fight song. The crowd sang every word giving a chill-inducing performance of the 1971 classic. It seems as though the theme is well-traveled.
