Drunk Driver Who Killed Two People Can't Understand Why She's Not Getting Her Car Back
In May, Stephanie Melgoza received a 14 year prison sentence out of a possible 28, after killing two people in a drunk driving accident in East Peoria Illinois.
The 24 year old pleaded guilty to four felony charges of aggravated DUI and aggravated reckless driving, and vowed to raise awareness about the dangers of drunk driving.
But while she seemed very aware of her action's consequences in court, a video from the fateful night shows her as anything but.
"How do I get my car for tomorrow?" she asked a police officer as filmed via bodycam.
"You killed two people tonight," the officer responded. "I don't think you understand that."
"Can I get it Tuesday though?"
Extended footage shows her laughing and singing while in custody. The victims were 43 year old Andrea Rosewicz, and 55 year old Paul Prowant.
"14 years doesn’t seem like nearly enough of a punishment for destroying a family," @twan1021 commented.
Yeah, she's not getting her car back any time soon.
