Drunk Brits Get Interviewed the Day Before Drunk Driving Is Made Illegal

It’s hard to believe, but there was a long period in history where it was perfectly okay (and legal) to down half a bottle of tequila and drive yourself home.
Of course, this period didn’t last long. Once the dead kids started lining the streets and dudes kept crashing into local businesses on their way home from work, the government stepped in and decided, “Hey, maybe you shouldn’t be able to house a bottle of Jack Daniels while behind the wheel.”
This was a controversial move. It was so controversial, in fact, that a British news crew set up shop next to a bar to interview people about it as they left. They weren’t thrilled — but, as you can see in the video, there were people trying to wriggle out of the rule from day one.
