House flipping is something that sounds a lot more fun than it actually is. What you have in mind is likely something like going in, swapping around a few fixtures, throwing on a coat of paint, then reselling and pocketing an extra million dollars. In reality, the process is significantly harder: There are pipes that need replacing, electrical work that needs to be done and a helluva lot more. At the end of it all, you’ll likely make money, but you’ll also have your fair share of emotional and physical bruises to show for it.

In this case, the couple got themselves a “fixer-upper” house and quickly learned how it got that label.
