Country Star Absolutely Butchers the National Anthem at the Home Run Derby
And this one you don’t have to feel bad laughing about! At the 2024 Home Run Derby at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, country singer Ingrid Andress was invited to perform the national anthem. Now, if you watch her Tiny Desk Concert, you can tell that she isn’t the strongest singer, but she’s still got plenty of talent to go ‘round.
Then again, if that’s true, what the hell happened here? She whiffs it from basically the first note, staying pitchy throughout the song and totally bailing on any opportunity for a standout high note. To close it out, she completely flubs the ending, attempting a vocal run that becomes a stumble-and-fall. I’ve got a feeling she’s not going to be invited back to perform anytime soon.
