China’s ‘Camp for Savages’ Is, Uh, Very Racist
Braden Bjella Published 07/30/2024
Recently, there’s been growing interest in the idea of “returning to nature.” These people see our social media-drenched, technology-obsessed lives and wish to reject it, instead reverting back to some kind of prehistoric hunter/gatherer-style existence. Of course, most people wouldn’t last more than a day doing this, but it’s a fun idea to entertain.
In response to this desire, some entrepreneurs have launched technology-free survival camps, where people can pay money to know what it’s like to not have money. They’ve even started one of these in China — unfortunately, complete with black face paint that looks straight out of a now-banned Hanna-Barbera cartoon.
