The “golden age of television” has a few meanings. Most of the time, people are referring to an era in which one could turn on TV and flip from Mad Men to Breaking Bad to an early season of Game of Thrones. However, there’s another, much less considered part of this special time: daytime television.

Daytime television from the late aughts through the 2010s was an entirely different beast. While some of this feeling can be emulated by watching an early morning news show in a small town, there really is nothing like the unhinged nature of daytime TV from this time — as you can see in this clip that, while apparently trying to promote a book, goes immediately off the rails.
