Billionaire Barry Sternlicht Says Workers Need a “Nice Little Recession” To Get Them Back In the Office

Barry Sternlichtis is worth 4.6 billion dollars, and is the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Starwood Capital Group, "an investment fund with over $60 billion in assets under management." He also quite obviously doesn't care about anybody actually responsible for making him that wealth, as demonstrated by his claim that "a nice little recession" might be good for everybody.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Sternlichtis talked about the importance of in-office work, and lamented his employees' reluctance to "drive into the city an hour and a half and drive home an hour and a half." But he goes on to say that he thinks "a nice little recession will clear this," framing it as a good thing.

"The self-importance he has," luckbeavirgo scoffed.

"He is heavily invested in commercial real estate," Just a guy pointed out, meaning that without workers in the office, the value of that real estate drops. What a surprise, another billionaire just looking out for his own pockets.

Like AlexWW1989 commented, "Billionaires and even millionaires over time lose a sense of empathy and reality, and only view life as return on investment."
