The Most Stereotypical Person From Each State, Per AI
Turns out A.I. knows us better than we know ourselves.

As Americans, we all have our own ideas about the kinds of people who live in each state. New Yorkers are grumpily getting business deals done, Californians are comfortably excluding people from their communities while preaching the opposite, and people from Alabama are getting a little too comfortable with... well we don't have to go there. The point is we love to stereotype in the United States, no matter how right or wrong those stereotypes might be. Now, we can check our work against AI, or at least what the image-creating A.I. Midjourney thinks the most stereotypical people in each state look like.
This list was created and shared by Kira Lucilfer, u/Kudasa1, on the r/midjourney subreddit. But while some states seem to be doing pretty well, it's also clear that the A.I. is carrying its own form of prejudices. For example, it definitely just recognized the word "Indian" in "Indiana," and made its cartoon person in accordance. And while yes, Indiana is named as such because the land was originally purchased from "Indians," many other states have much higher percentages of Native Americans in their populations.
I will say that Iowa depicted as an old man with corn on his head looks just about right. Here are the 50 most stereotypical people of each state according to A.I..
