The food and beverage space, namely restaurants is definitely a saturated market, even in smaller towns or rural areas. The need to differentiate yourself from the competition is an important part of pretty much any business. Most places do this in the form of special food or menu items, perhaps a theme to the decor or the food and menu. Other places serve their food in a certain way and hope that will set them apart from the rest. Check out this batch of pics that show some bizarre, WTF, and even super impractical serving platters and presentations.

Most people enjoy or at least don't mind a quirky or unique dining experience, but some places definitely take it a bit too far. When you serve your customer in flower pots or even a shoe, your creativity may be getting away from you and verging on ridiculous.
