No matter how much our modern kitchen appliances may resemble medieval torture devices — the bizarre-looking garlic mincers, meat tenderizers, and butter choppers lurking in our mom's drawers — they have absolutely nothing on the gadgets of yesteryear. For as long as we've had kitchens, we've had some very strange items to fill them.

 Case in point? Monstrosities like cake breakers, ice box picks and even cookie guns that were once synonymous with a fine, home-cooked meal.
