New Monolith Appears in Romania After Vanishing in Utah
1.
According to the DailyMail, a new triangular monolith was discovered, in Piatra Neamt a city in northern Romania last Thursday. The monolith stands 13 feet tall and faces Mount Ceahlau, known to the locals as the "Holy Mountian."
2.
Last week, headlines of the Utah Monolith drew international attention, so it is no surprise the discovery of a second is able to ride the coattails of the first.
3.
However, there is some difference between the two structures. The Utah monolith was smooth, the Romanian one is marked with swirling lines, though it is unclear if they are simply drawn on or not.
4.
It was reported that on November 27th, the Utah monolith was removed by an unnamed group of people in the middle of the night. Left in its place, a small metal triangle and some stacked rocks.

Whatever the purpose behind the monolith craze, we worry the outcome won't live up to the hype. Are they art installations? Some guerilla marketing tactic for a Netflix show? Aliens? We're still holding out hope, but it seems less and less likely as the days go by.

I think we can all agree, the monolith plot-twist is exactly what we all needed after a year like this one.
