Boss Wants Employees to Sign a Non-Compete Agreement That Is (Probably) Illegal, or It’s Their Jobs

A Redditor asks for advice after getting a weird, and probably illegal request from their boss asking them to sign a non-compete agreement.

This employee works at a retail shop for $12 an hour and their boss wants them to sign an 11-page non-compete agreement. With rumors that their boss is being investigated for tax fraud, they are nervous about signing the NCA.
Most comments are advising this person to not sign because most companies that pay actual salaries require NCAs, but at $12 an hour, there is no reason to sign one. It's probably time this employee moves on and finds a job that respects them.
