This Thursday, hundreds of Michiganders gathered at the statehouse to protest Governor Gretchen Whitmer's stay-at-home order, which had been lengthened to May 15th. Many of them came strapped with guns and body armor and entered the capitol building, with some of them making it to the balcony around the House floor.
This is not the first time this April people have gathered to protest stay-at-home orders.
Politicians were scheduled to debate an extension of emergency and disaster declaration. They eventually left the meeting without further extending the declaration.
Although Michigan no longer allows protesters to bring in signs with them to the statehouse, it's one of several states that allows people to bring in as many guns as they want.
Not surprisingly, some politicians brought their own bulletproof vests as a precaution.
