French Kid Reading First Book in English Gets Thoroughly and Hilarious Confused
damn_nation_inc Published 07/24/2020
Generally speaking, reading a translated version of a book is very different from trying to translate it yourself. Official translations usually take great care to make sure that various bits of slang and culturally significant idioms are properly related in the new language. Using a dictionary to do it on your own is not at all as thorough, and the direct dictionary translation can often be a little too literal or even completely off the mark, as we see here.
