Back before he was an acclaimed director, Stanley Kubrick was living in NYC and began taking photos.
Between the years of 1940 and 1945, a 17-year-old Stanley Kubrick had just landed a job with Look Magazine as a photographer. Just glancing through these photos it becomes pretty clear that Kubrick had a gift.
Long before he would go on to direct one of the most iconic horror movies (or general films for that matter) with 'The Shining', he was already telling stories through his camera lens. And what an awesome time to be living in New York City capturing all of the excitement.
Thanks to the Museum of the City of New York, we've collected 30 of Kubrick's most awe-inspiring, and intriguing photos from NYC in the '40s. Through the eyes of one of the most talented storytellers, we truly get a real glimpse of what it was like living in the city back then.
