Some memes are, arguably, too dank. These memes, admittedly, might not be the dankest memes ever -- far from it -- but they are the danker to have surfaced atop the internet, it seems. Memes these days seem to trend in a few different directions, with the very meaning of dankness skewed.

Apparently, "dank" memes used to refer to ironic memes, usually making fun of whatever template was popular at the moment. Then it denoted a more edgy nature -- the kinda memes you wouldn't find your textbooks. Now "dank" just seems to mean funnier than usual?
