They sure don't make ads like they used to. Advertising isn't new. In fact, Ridley Scott had to tone down the authenticity of 'The Gladiator because he didn't think people would find it authentic. Gladiators were known for promoting products in the coliseum. So when we say ads have come a long way over the years, we mean it.
Today we don't have thousand-year-old ads, but they are vintage nonetheless. We love old ads for a number of reasons. Mostly for how strange they are to our modern eyes, and secondly for how savage they were. Even ads from the 90s feel dated to us now.
It's safe to say many of these ads. wouldn't fly today. And that's okay. Times change and people's tastes change as well, but what doesn't change is, how savage advertisers used to be.
