What happened in vans like this will stay in the 70s. Gone are the days when a Dodge Tradesman airbrushed with wizards having a laser gun fight with robot dragons in a rainforest could help even the ugliest chump pick up chicks. But, maybe shockingly to the youth of today, there was an era when this was the case.
These over-the-top vans were hubs for basically everything that I can’t mention on this website. If you were around back then, you’ll know what I mean, and if you weren’t you can let your imagination run wild. It shouldn’t be hard when you see some of the psychedelic paint jobs on these killer 70s vans. Check ‘em out.

Whoever painted this one could stand to take an art class or two. That’s part of the charm of it, though.
3
The Land of the Lost paint job is the least crazy thing about this van.
4
A guy posing with the light of his life, and his girlfriend.
5
It’s unbelievable to me that people tried (and succeeded) to pick up ladies with vans like “Pirate’s Paradise”
6
Probably a fan of nature.
7
This Star Trek design looks like it was done by someone who had somewhere to be.
8
Star Wars had a hold on 70s vans like nothing else.
9
What design should we use for ‘Octopus’s Garden’? Oh, I know! Fire!
10
A little busy, but I’m not complaining.
11
Leave it to a 70s van owner to combine a wizard with a shirtless woman.
12
You have to remove your hat before getting in this van.
13
Hard to tell exactly what’s going on in this one, except that it’s awesome.
14
Ringed planet, fighter jet, nonspecific aliens/wizards… It’s a masterpiece.
15
Close Encounters of the Third Gear.
16
This van looks like it’s been sunburned somehow.
17
Yeah, I don’t think that changing the name to “The Tattoo Machine” is going to win you any points in your lawsuit with Hanna Barbera.
18
Some people would call this goofy. Not me. I’m in awe.
19
A long time ago, in a garage far far away…

An airbrushed beauty. I could stare at this van for hours before even getting in it.

Definitely not what they’re going for, but this one really looks like a football helmet to me for some reason.

Not sure whether this one is actually from the 70s, but they’re certainly keeping the spirit alive.
