But there are two sides to every coin, and all of those pleasures haven't come without a price.

Sometimes we forget that underneath the glittering veneer of civilization are plenty of examples of ways the modern age has not uplifted us, but cost us something hard to articulate. But you be the judge. One person's golden age is another's dystopia -- and vice versa.
