Bragging was a lot tougher before the internet. Surrounded by the same people from the same place your whole life, it's harder to pretend to be something you're not. Sure, your girlfriend that lives in another state would totally disagree, but it's hard to get ahold of her these days since she only visits at night and leaves before school the next morning.
