12 Facts About Parenting That No One Ever Prepares You For

There are situations that you have to deal with on a daily basis that defy all sense of decency and understanding.

1.

You're going to say or do something to your kid that instantly makes you feel like the worst parent in the world. You'll apologize, but now you're going to assume you scarred them for life.

2.

For moms, you're going to have some crazy post-pregnancy hormones that'll make you feel completely nuts. If you're a dad and you find yourself saying, "wait, what did I do?" Don't take it personally. You're both tired, irritable, on the verge of tears at all times.

3.

It's not that you don't love your baby, but there are moments where you want to throw that Baby Einsteins DVD into a swamp and run as fast as you can to literally anywhere else in the world.

4.

Remember all those nice, expensive outfits you and your friends bought that you couldn't wait for your baby to wear? He'll get to wear it maybe twice before it's so small on him it'll look like it's painted on.

5.

Everyone will want to come by and see the new baby and while you love and appreciate them, they'll be some days when you cancel plans with everyone and sleep for every moment you possibly can.

6.

After a few weeks you'll realize that, instead of asking for a wipe warmer you'll never use, you shouldn't asked everyone to buy you diapers. How is it possible to go through that many diapers every day?

7.

The problem with buying diapers is you want to stock up, but your baby is growing so fast you can't buy too many or you risk having a bunch of leftovers that don't fit. Now you just find yourself going to CVS every other day buying a dozen diapers at a time.

8.

Unfortunately you're going to have to go back to work at some point. Somehow you forgot about this and you'll spend most of your workday asking for baby updates or daydreaming about what you might be missing.

9.

It's almost easier to just buy a new house that's already baby proofed than it is to install all those little latches and protectors to your current house.

10.

Not only do you have to worry about getting thrown up on, peed on, and a runny poop, you also get to discover you leaked through your shirt and bra.

11.

You don't get much sleep because, in addition to your baby waking up through the night, every time he makes a sound you'll sprint to the crib to make sure he's ok. Then when you don't hear anything you'll worry that something else might be wrong. You're basically a walking night terror.

12.

For the first few months of your baby's life, you'll find that they're not that exciting to hang out with and they mainly just lie there. You'll basically feed them, change them, and watch them sleep. That's it.
