Since the 1970s oil crisis, emissions regulations, and rising insurance costs heavily dampened the power and appeal of classic muscle cars, the ‘80s had to respond in a big way if they were going to keep this automotive sub-genre afloat.

The return to form didn’t happen right away, but year by year, the ‘80s not only kept it afloat, they added new features like turbocharged V6 engines and fuel injection which greatly improved power and efficiency. And to match all that under-the-hood goodness, they luckily still looked rad (a very ‘80s term).
