10 Insane Movie Fan Theories

Some of these theories have more holes than swiss cheese.

1.

Titanic - The Theory: Jack Dawson is a time traveler. Explanation: Jack is sent back in time to prevent Rose from committing suicide. If she were to go through with the jump from the bow, the boat would have to stop and possibly not hit the iceberg, throwing world events that follow completely upside down. Jack’s hair is not of the time period, neither is his backpack he carries. Also, he refers to events that hadn’t happened, like spending time at Lake Wissota, which was created by the construction of the Wissota Hydroelectric Dam on the Chippewa River, which was completed in 1917, five years before Titanic set sail.

2.

E.T. - The Theory: E.T. is a Jedi. Explanation: E.T.’s species is seen as a representative in the Galactic Senate in the Star Wars universe. Fans speculate that E.T. can make objects float due to his understanding and use of The Force. Also, in the scene where E.T. is trick-or-treating, he recognizes a child dressed as Yoda and runs towards him as if he were an old friend.

3.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off - The Theory: The entire film takes place in Cameron’s mind. Explanation: In Ferris Bueller’s Day Off the lead character Ferris is constantly trying to push his friend Cameron to experience new things and get out of his comfort zone. The ending of the film where Cameron decides to stand up to his overbearing father and realizes he no longer needs Ferris, could be taken as a John Hughes Fight Club moment.

Tangled, Frozen and The Little Mermaid - The Theory: All three films are connected and in the same universe. Explanation: A Disney fan pointed out earlier this year that Tangled, starring Rapunzel, was released three years ago. In Frozen, you find out that Elsa’s parents were also killed three years from the time depicted in the film. The theory is that Elsa’s parents were on a boat headed toward Rapunzel’s wedding, when the boat sunk between Norway and Germany, landing off the coast of Denmark. The site of the shipwreck was then constantly explored by Ariel in The Little Mermaid.

5.

Pulp Fiction - The Theory: The Glowing Suitcase in Pulp Fiction contains Marsellus Wallace’s soul. Explanation: It is said that when the Devil takes your soul, he takes it from the back of your head. That would explain the bandage on the back of Marsellus’s head that is never discussed. Also, the combination to the suitcase is 666.

6.

Grease - The Theory: The whole film is just Sandy’s coma-induced dream. Explanation: In the song “Summer Nights”, Danny recalls the summer vacation in which he met Sandy, singing “I saved her life, she nearly drowned”. Fan theorist believe the drowning actually happened. Sandy did almost drown and was in a coma, in which she dreamed of the move to America, the high school and all of the characters. This is the only way to explain the ridiculous ending where the car they drive off in magically starts to fly.

7.

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory - The Theory: Willy Wonka is a deranged child killer. Explanation: This one pretty much explains itself. Wonka set up the tour in an attempt to murder children from around the world, using traps in his factory that kids cannot resist. How would the Oompa-Loompas know a choreographed song and dance every time a kid bit the dust?

8.

The Harry Potter Movies - The Theory: Ron Weasley is Dumbledore. Explanation: The theory is that Ron grew up to become headmaster at Hogwarts, a.k.a. Dumbledore. After using a time-turner, he then went back to his teens in order to help Harry Potter. The theory speculates that Harry Potter had not been able to defeated Voldemort, and Ron was traveling back to help Harry fulfill his birth prophecy.

9.

The Flintstones Movie - The Theory: The Flintstones are actually living in a post-apocalyptic future. Explanation: They are constantly trying to produce primitive versions of modern technology and use genetically-engineered dinosaurs to do labor that once was performed by machinery now beyond their grasp.

Toy Story 3 - The Theory: Toy Story 3 is a metaphor for the Holocaust. Explanation: Woody gives a speech about losing friends that is almost the exact same speech as the deportation scene in The Pianist. Buzz then suggest they should hide in the attic for protection. After being rounded up and sent to a prison for toys, one of the final scenes is the toys trying to escape and incinerator.
