Dating apps have gotten so bad (and creepy) that the only way to get off of them is to create a new non-verbal method of flirting. One woman, @MakaliaVance on Twitter, announced that she made business cards for flirting.
“Hi, I think you’re cute,” the card reads, listing her number and Twitter name below, “My name’s Miriam if you think I’m cute too get in touch.”

The card, while aesthetically pleasing, drew in a plethora of reactions.

Turns out, Vance is not the only single person who has resorted to graphic design to lure a mate.
This is, no joke, how I first started flirting with my now husband. Made these back in 2019, now we’ve been married almost three years! https://t.co/uNceQJNoNG pic.twitter.com/W4kYiaaLKD

Some took inspiration from Vance and decided to create their own dating cards.

Though it’s still the internet and many called the dating card trick cringey.
This is a cute idea until the inevitable "some unfuckable weirdo handed this to me at the bar" tweet with a photo of your card shows up https://t.co/KE1BU2juRb

“Are we just straight up now not talking to people in real life?” asked @PaladinAmber.
Using the cards, there is also the chance of being misinterpreted as an escort giving out her details.
“People are gonna think you’re a lady of the night ma’am,” @latkedelrey
Despite the split reactions to this, it feels as though we are regressing back to the days of courting each other.
In Victorian England and America, flirtation and escort cards were pretty common & considered a fun way to break the ice. They often had instructions too. https://t.co/ZHWM75stDY pic.twitter.com/d8zaz4Dfsu

The thread morphed into people posting old Victorian calling cards. How else do you get a fair lady to meet with you? Why not hand her a slip and wait for her to return with a yes?
Heck, let's go back to dance cards. If you want to embrace on the dancefloor to Drake, you better make sure my dance card isn’t already filled with other suitors.
Like any dating advice, you have to be normal to execute this. And don’t be surprised if someone actually does mistake you for an escort. It’s the price of the game!
