If you see a video of a parent endorsing a “baby hack," it's time to summon the TikTok mortician. Summertime is in full swing and influencers are making videos about how to have fun even if you have a kid. But so many of these tend to disregard child safety.

One video shows a baby in a floatie that a dad attached with rope to his boat, and the comment section tagged Lauren the Mortician (@lovee.miss.lauren), who makes content about death and child safety.


“Y'all are paying $100 for these death traps,” she says in the video. She explains how these floaties are not Coast Guard approved and can tip over incredibly easily. It can be child safe but only if the baby is under full supervision.


“Attaching a rope to your child is signaling to me that you are not within arm's reach of them,” she states.


A lot of these parent hacks have to do with tying your child to things. Another video shows a toddler on a boat attached to a bungee cord.



“Please for the love of god do not bungee your child to a boat,” she states incredulously.


Lauren the Mortician deftly lists all the bad outcomes that could occur by turning your baby into a human slingshot.
