A video recently went viral on TikTok of a girl explaining a strange interaction with a random person online. The person had messaged her multiple times saying that she needed to get a DNA test from Ancestry. Over the next couple of weeks, this person went so far as to create alt accounts on Facebook to get in contact with her, urging her to get a DNA test.

The girl, @laneiscool14 on TikTok, messaged back saying she already got a 23 and Me test and she already knows her background. But the person continued to suggest that she needed one from Ancestry. Lane was a little freaked out at first. She thought maybe it was a scam, but after the person continued to message her for a week she decided to bring the info to her mom.

It turns out her mom had an affair while she was in college, with a younger guy and regretted it because she was already in a relationship. Well, she got pregnant and was ashamed about her affair so she lied for more than 20 years that Lane's dad was her actual dad.

Most people speculated that it was her real dad who was messaging her, trying to find answers of his own.

One person commented, "was it your dad who sent the texts??"

"What a guy. Hes loved you from afar for so long. It’s pretty special that he already kind of knows who you are," another person said.

Most people agreed that it was heartwarming that this man wanted to meet his estranged daughter after so many years of wondering if it was true that she was really related to him.

Lane also mentioned that she is pretty upset with her mother, not just over these lies, but from years of substance abuse and mental trauma she caused over her childhood.

Someone commented, "That’s wild. Your life could of been completely different."

In a follow-up video, Lane said that she found out her biological father called her place of work one time, asking when they close because he wanted to hear her voice.

She also said that it wasn't her father who originally messaged her but his nephew, who had taken a DNA test and found out people in his own family weren't biologically related to him and he wanted Lane to find out the truth about herself as well.

"I just feel like I have two dads now, which is a good thing," Lane concluded.
