Though there are a lot of weirdos lurking in the night  — creeps, flashers, or in the case of SpongeBob SquarePants, the Hash-Slinging Slasher — one unlucky good samaritan found himself mixed in with this less-than-stellar lot, landing in trouble with the cops after attempting to return a purse to its rightful owner.

Influencer @judyhoppsl0vr69 recently learned a hard lesson about trying to do the right thing, heading to TikTok with a harrowing plea for the woman “in a blue dress and high heels” who accused him of stalking her down a dark city street: He’s not a weirdo, just a random passerby trying to reunite her with her bag. ‘

According to @judyhoppsl0vr69, the incident went down on a dark New York City night, when he found himself alone on the street with another woman. After several moments of walking in the same direction, the woman began sprinting away from the TikToker — who she clearly presumed to be a creeper — dropping her purse in the process.

While he may have tried to pick up her bag and return it to her, this helpful gesture was far from well-received, the woman offering him a stern warning as she continued down the road.

“‘If you don’t stop chasing me in the next three seconds I’m going to call the police,’” she purportedly warned him.

@judyhoppsl0vr69, hellbent on giving the woman her bygone bag, opted to ignore this advice, pursuing her further. Unfortunately, this decision came with a whole lot of consequences, the creator running from the cops.

“I really really promise that I was not trying to follow you, I swear to God I was just trying to get home” he said as sirens blared in the background. “If you could tell the cops that and just tell them that it was a big misunderstanding that would be great,” he continued, noting that he still had her purse.

So take it from this tale of good samaritan woe: No good deed goes unpunished, especially with a puncher on the loose.
