After years of appropriating and badly executing TikTok dances created by people of color, an exercise that has led to people like Charli D’Amelio and Addison Rae becoming a thing (looking at you, Jimmy Fallon), white people have finally opted not to steal from marginalized groups, creating their own dance, one best described as “objectively terrible.”
Originated by TikTok creator @garrettlee39, the conventions of the dance are fairly simple – flail your arms while hopping back and forth to the tune of Pinegrove’s “Need 2,” pretending with every fiber of your being that you don’t look half as dumb as you actually do.
Though heralded by male manipulators, indie girlies, and DJ Kahled alike (three groups of people all connected by their apparent aversion to eating pussy) the dance quickly gained traction off of the platform, shooting to viral infamy on Twitter.
“The hottest new dance on TikTok is white people aesthetically flailing their arms to an indie song,” @UsingCigarettes captioned a supercut of several people getting in on the trend.

@UsingCigarettes was far from alone when it came to their disdain for the trend, several others quote tweeting the clip with snarky remarks of their own.
“This is what happens when white people have to come up with our own shit instead of stealing from everyone else,” joked @Odhran78179026.
“Please someone take me out,” pleaded @Dekrasias.
Dancing – it’s not for everyone.
