With two minutes left in the first half of Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals between the New York Knicks and the Miami Heat, the Knicks were trailing by five, and Jalen Brunson had just seven points. But the Knicks would emerge victorious, and by the end of the game, their 26-year-old offseason acquisition led all scoring with 30 points.
So what changed? Allegedly, the difference between halves had nothing to do with basketball, and everything to do with Madison Square Garden throwing Jessica Alba up on their big screen.

Alba’s four-second shot on TNT quickly became a popular gif making its way across NBA Twitter, reminding everyone why she’s one of the biggest heartthrobs of the last 20 years. On a night where new Jets quarterback Aaron Rogers was among a long list of celebrity guests, it was no doubt, Alba who stole the show.

On the other side of the country, the LA Lakers narrowly edged out the defending champions, the Golden State Warriors, with some help from a questionable shot by Warriors' guard Jordan Poole.
Poole went viral last year after supposedly using attractive courtside women as motivation, and many fans offered up the Jessica Alba gif as evidence of Poole’s poor final play. Of course, Alba was 2,500 miles away - maybe that’s why the shot didn’t go in.

If Jessica Alba is the Knicks’ good luck charm, then they better buy her some tickets to Game 3 Saturday in Miami. The Knicks haven’t made it to an Eastern Conference Finals since 1995, but maybe Jessica Alba is all they need this year to fantastically make it to the NBA’s final four.
The Knicks are good. Jessica Alba’s on TV.
