A Twitter user shared a screenshot of Sophia’s Instagram story in which she promoted a new vlog titled, “I Got a Christian BBL: Full Story & Why It’s Trending,” and added the caption, “Getting a Christian BBL too so God don’t get mad at me for changing his image.”

Meanwhile, in the replies, other Twitter users tried in vain to figure out what on earth a Christian BBL entails. One tweeted, “What’s a Christian bbl? You prayed to God for more booty or what? I’m lost.” Another suggested that it stands for, “Booty Bless[ed] by the Lord.” Fortunately, we can watch Sophia’s video to find out the answer for ourselves.

In the vlog, she explained that she underwent lipo 360 and a fat transfer to her hips with Dr. Calvin Jung in Houston — essentially, a BBL. She added that she doesn’t know if Jung is a Christian or not, which one would think was a crucial component of getting a Christian BBL, but I digress.

The majority of the video is made up of a lengthy explanation in which she revealed that her video referring to a “Christian BBL” was a sarcastic attempt at grabbing the attention of judgemental Christian followers who were criticizing her decision to undergo the procedure; essentially, ensuring they would watch the video, take the hint, unfollow her and leave her alone.

I didn’t realize God was anti-BBL specifically, but the deluge of negative comments suggests he is. One popular comment left on the original video reads, “Going under the knife to alter your look is not the same as wearing lash extensions or a waist trainer. It’s major surgery, which has cost many people their lives and is usually an indicator that the person undergoing surgery has some sort of body dysmorphia.

“For any young person coming to watch this as encouragement to go under the knife, please don’t. There are things about all of us that aren’t perfect, but God makes no mistakes, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the way you came into this world. Nothing needs to be altered, at least not in terms of the physical. The real work is dealing with what’s going on inside of our minds and not allowing the voice of the world to drown out the voice of God. As scripture states, ‘Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.’ Don’t let the world deceive you.”

Sophia ended her explanation video by stating that she said that ultimately she’s glad that the situation has people talking about God, because people definitely don’t do that enough in the United States, especially in December. Her closing words were, “My BBL isn’t following me to Heaven, unfortunately.”

Amen, girl.
