Transportation Secretary Says He Wants Pull-Up Bars in Airports
You know how flying is miserable and planes keep falling out of the sky? What if instead of solving that, we installed free Bowflexes?

Flying in the United States is miserable — and the people in charge of fixing it are either unwilling to do so, are too stupid to realize the real issues, or both. For example, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy previously said that one of the issues with modern travel is that people don’t dress well enough on planes. I’d argue that $500 flights and seats that no longer fit your legs are bigger issues, but maybe that’s just me!
During a recent press conference, Duffy encouraged airports to seek government grants. As for what those grants should fund, he offered some interesting ideas: nursing pods for mothers — or “a workout area where people might get some blood flowing doing some pull ups or step ups in the airport.”

This was later punctuated with a pull-up competition between RFK Jr. and Duffy. I just…Is there a chance that we’ve all already passed away and this is some shared, collective hallucination?
The real problem is that we actually know what’s wrong with America’s airports; it’s just that solving the issues is both expensive and boring. Our security is slow and ineffective, our air traffic controllers are overworked and underpaid, many airports are overcrowded for the amount of staff they have and the infrastructure itself is old and underfunded.

However, actually fixing those things takes a lot more effort than the installation of a pull-up bar — so, expect to be able to rip out a few chin-ups during your next 7-hour flight delay!
