“CÁRCEL!” They chanted. “CÁRCEL!” – “jail” in Spanish. It rang out, echoing across the World Heritage site, reverberating through the ancient stone pyramids visitors from all corners of the globe flock to witness in person. All for her. All for one piece of trash who thought the rules didn’t apply to her. Her brazen conviction. Her brash performance, one would’ve thought this was another one of those climate protests that deface objects of historical value.
This tourist with no regard for others and no respect for history daringly climbed to the top of one of the ancient Mayan pyramids in Mexico. She even has the guts to do a little dance and wave her hat around at the top, mistaking everyone’s heckles for cheers or perhaps ignoring them altogether. She was promptly instructed to descend by one of the site’s guides.
The act of blatant disrespect undoubtedly angered the gods, who decisively cursed her on the spot. Don’t believe me? Just take a look at the instant karma she endures. The crowd awaits her return and, upon it, greets her with a well-deserved “idiota!” among other loving terms, boos and jostles her, splashes her with water, and escorts her off the premises. It’s not known whether she did spend a night in cárcel once the cameras were off, but her mistake will live on in infamy on the interwebs.
