One ex-Olympian discovered that there is such thing as flying too close to the sun … when it comes to nabbing views, earning himself six months in jail after he intentionally crashed an airplane as a part of a YouTube video.
In this clip, which was filmed in November 2021, Trevor Jacob can be seen parachuting from the sky above Santa Barbara County, California, jumping out of the side of his single-engine airplane and leaving the aircraft to crash following his hasty exit.

Though Jacob ultimately pled guilty to one count of destruction and concealment with the intent to obstruct a federal investigation back in June, prosecutors encouraged a stronger sentence, arguing that he “most likely committed this offense to generate social media and news coverage for himself and to obtain financial gain,” referencing his sponsors.
And just yesterday, Jacob uploaded his first video to YouTube in over a year, titled, "I Got My Pilots License Back! But Going To Prison..." And to many people's shock, the video begins with him, you, flying a plane. Many people in the comments were rightly confused, one commenting, "The fact you got your license back after using a plane as a makeshift kinetic missile is insane to me." And though Jacob will spend the next six months of his life behind bars, he'll be back terrorizing the skies in a short time.
We can only hope that these ad partners will help Jacob out with his commissary … he’s gonna need it.
